Third Culture Kids

January 24, 2018 by admin

TCKs or Third Culture Kids are those that have lived a portion of their childhood in a country other than their passport country due to parents’ work.  They might also be called DiploKids (children of diplomats) Missionary Kids, Military Brats.

There are many researchers and writers who have described the lives of these children who grow up to be ATCKs or Adult Third Culture Kids or TCAs Third Culture Adults.

If you are one and you meet another one, no matter what their reason for growing up in another country, you know they both belong to this ‘tribe’.

If you are a TCK or ATCK, a must read is Ruth Van Reken and David C. Pollock’s revised Third Culture Kids book.
